Named after the length of the beach, 75 Mile Beach is just that, 75 miles long. Visitors tend to flock to the area to dig their feet into the sand or drive along the shoreline. The shipwreck of the old SS Maheno can be found perched up on the sand after it was washed up in the early 1900s from cyclone damage.
The Champagne Pools are a busy swimming destination, but visitors are warned not to swim in the open ocean due to the dangerous currents and large shark population. Indian Head is a must-visit location, the view from the volcanic rock formation is beautiful and worth the trek. If you’re visiting during whale season you might get lucky enough to spot some playful Humpback whales!
